Position
Summary:
The Process Engineer is responsible for identifying, leading, developing, and executing solutions for performance and quality improvements on manufacturing production systems (processing and/or packaging). The role incumbent will act as the primary technical resource for manufacturing systems' knowledge, lead efforts around validation processes to enable seamless startups of new systems and equipment, and be primarily responsible for writing and training on SOPs for new and existing processes and developing and executing performance qualification protocols for equipment validation.
Key
Responsibilities:
Demonstrate technical and business expertise on systems/products/technologies that are responsible for improving quality of products and process efficiencies.
Demonstrate strong troubleshooting skills through the use of continuous improvement techniques (Lean, TPM, Kaizen). Show thorough understanding of the interactions between machines, materials, methods, environment, and manpower to provide robust operating systems.
Develop/maintain material balances and unit operation capability information to ensure optimal production rates, parameters, and formulas.
Provide key technical support in capital projects, new products and packaging material testing/start-ups, and retain primary ownership for new process validation.
Provide necessary support for ensuring existing processes and equipment fully comply with quality documentation, validation and training requirements.
Conduct capacity studies, enhance system reliability, and identify/implement productivity improvements including new technologies. Develop/maintain strategic technical improvement plans for systems.
Serve as a technical liaison for all levels of the company including production/maintenance employees, plant technical and management resources, corporate engineering and R&D organizations, and other plants.
Develop/deliver technical training for various levels of the organization and serve as a divisional resource in cross-functional platform/technology/product teams.
Partner with quality engineers and production operators in process development such as design and fabrication of jigs, tools, fixtures, gages, and special equipment for primary glass operations and/or secondary processes.
Perform process capability studies or special studies necessary to increase control and lower total quality costs.
Perform all responsibilities with the achievement of Customer-Focused Quality as the primary priority and goal.
Actively participate in definition of quality requirements, justification of acceptance limits and sampling plans to assure compliance with requirements.
Perform product and process evaluations to identify areas for improvement. Recommend solutions to identified problems. Implement approved changes using sound quality engineering principles and fully document requirements on a timely basis.
Work closely with Manufacturing Operations to Identify and resolve production and quality system deficiencies

Minimum Requirements/
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical or Electrical preferred)
5
years experience in process and/or packaging engineering, process/system development, product development, quality engineering, or manufacturing.
Experience utilizing statistical techniques such as process capability and Gage R+R is strongly preferred. Experience performing productivity tests and evaluations such as OEE, TPM, etc is strongly preferred.
Demonstrated ability in leading projects through the evaluation of information and responding accordingly using project management tools such as Gant charts, etc.
Experience in new product development and/or manufacturing process development for new product rollouts is preferred.
Ability to investigate product quality problems, determines root cause, gather and analyze data and implement corrective action to reduce or eliminate cause.
Preferred experience in glass substrates, screen printing, and medical device manufacturing
Non-Negotiable Hiring Criteria:
Must be capable of working for extended periods in a manufacturing environment.
A background in production and operations is essential.
Recognized technical abilities and practical experience with strong capabilities in the following areas:
