Liberty Mutual Global Specialty IT is actively searching for a Principal Guidewire Software Developer. Global Specialty IT provides support and operations for all global specialty lines including Liberty International Underwriters (LIU), Liberty Syndicates, Liberty Mutual Surety (LMS), and Liberty Mutual Reinsurance (LMR) through one unified IT team. In this position, you will provide technical consulting on highly complex projects. Devise or modify procedures to solve highly complex problems. Has thorough knowledge of IT concepts, strategies and methodologies. Responsible for program design, coding, testing, debugging, and documentation. Responsible for quality assurance review. Lead projects or subprojects of significant technical complexity and responsible for directing and monitoring the work of team members.
Responsibilities:
Participates as high level technical expert in design, development, coding, testing and debugging new software or significant enhancements to existing software.
Develops and enhances highly complex systems and/or software from general requirements and specifications across multiple platforms, applications and projects.
Identifies and analyzes technical and/or functional Level 2 problems of high complexity; designs and implements effective solutions.
Works with technical staff to understand problems with software and develops specifications for improvements and enhancements.
Works with Technologist to strategize on the technologies and components needed to implement the appropriate business solutions.
Leads development staff to ensure both architectural and development standards are being met. This includes leading design and coding reviews.
Helps develop and organize technology plan that developers can execute from. Makes recommendations to the Project Managers on the right development tasks and skill set. Validates that application was build based on technology plan.
Mentors junior developer on application portfolio, coding standards and techniques and development processes.
May provide on-call support as needed.
Consults on major, complex design considerations; acts as principal project architecture designer and reviewer for 1 or more project teams and may make architectural decisions.
Depicts highly complex ideas, issues and designs to varied audiences; communicates project objectives, scope and direction across project teams.
Performs related duties as assigned or requested.
Qualifications:

Bachelor''s or Master''s degree in technical or business discipline or equivalent experience, technical degree preferred.

Generally 8 years of professional experience and strong working knowledge of Java, J2EE and XML.

Guidewire suite and Gosu programming knowledge preferred.

Thorough knowledge of IT concepts, strategies, methodologies.

Thorough knowledge of diverse technologies and new technical architecture principles and concepts.

Thorough understanding of layered systems architectures and layered solutions and designs.

Highly proficient in software engineering languages and tools; ability to develop on multiple platforms.

Thorough knowledge of a business function(s) and I/T industry business issues; extensive knowledge of business operations, strategies and objectives.

Strong negotiation, facilitation and consensus building skills.

Strong oral and written communication skills; presentation skills.

Previous experience in delivering technology solutions for insurance back office operations.

Experience with delivery of packaged application suite.
